Virginia Club of New York: New York Marathon Volunteering

Help your fellow Hoos distribute water to over 50,000 thirsty runners!

Please only register if you can commit to the entire shift. If you’re pretty sure you can join us but it’s possible a scheduling conflict might arise, go ahead and register before all the spots fill. This event page is meant to track Virginia Club registrations but is not the final registration needed in order to volunteer. Registration on the New York Road Runners site is required by Saturday, September 30th. In order to register on the New York Road Runners site, follow these steps:

1. Visit the New York Road Runners Site at nyrr.org
2. Click “sign in.”
3. If you have an account sign in. If not, create an account.
4. Click “Get Involved” and choose “Volunteer.”
5. Scroll down and click “Volunteer at the TCS New York City Marathon.”
6. Click ” Register Now.“
7. IMPORTANT: Scroll down until you find “Mile 22 Shift 1 Volunteer“. NOTE: you will have to scroll down and click “Load More” several times… eventually you’ll get to Mile 22 Volunteer Shift 1. It’s a marathon of clicking “load more”! 😉
8. Click “Apply.”
9. Select “UVA Alumni Volunteers-Virginia Club of New York” as your Group (way at the bottom under U), fill in all the requested fields, then click “submit application.”
10. Smile. You’re set for a fun fall morning and you don’t even have to train for it!
