Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health,
occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits.
–Thomas Jefferson, Founder of The University of Virginia
The Virginia Club of New York’s financial grants are intended to invest in institutions that embody and encompass values consistent with its mission: “to create and maintain a strong connection between the University of Virginia and its students, alumni, and their families and friends in the tri-state region.”
Through its grants, the Club seeks to make charitable investments that support: nonprofits in the NYC metro area that directly promote Virginia Club of New York efforts; scholarships for NYC metro area students to the University of Virginia; and Virginia Club of New York affinity groups.
Past recipients include Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership, the College Foundation of the University of Virginia (for the Kenneth G. Elzinga Professorship), the Fresh Air Fund, the Jefferson Scholars, and the Glen D. Kirwin 9/11 Scholarship.
